There was a period a few years ago when I would visit thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales looking for old photographs that I would then paste into my paintings. Â David Lyle has taken this idea one step further; he uses found photos from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as the subject for his large oil paintings. Â His painting technique is strong, but his curatorial skills are even stronger as the images he chooses are incredible.
