I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone looking for subject matter, but Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melemid’s “The Most Wanted Paintings” project sure does make for an interesting experiment. Â
The pair commissioned surveys in multiple countries to determine what qualities the general public believed would constitute the most and least desirable works of art, then created those very paintings. Â I think the survey results are actually more interesting than the paintings, but I suppose that was to be expected.
