It’s the last day of 2009, and so today I’m going to do something a little bit different. Rather than come up with my own “top ten” or “best of the year/decade” list, I’ve decided to hold a contest to find out who your favourite PaintBlog artists have been these past two years. The contest is open to all readers of the blog, and to enter all you need to do is comment on this post with your pick(s) by Friday January 8th, 2010. Â Please include your email when submitting your comment (I promise not to collect or share them) so I can contact the winner.
I will choose the winner at random, and the prize will depend on the winner’s country of origin, but will consist of one of the following books:

Have a great New Year’s Eve everyone, and I look forward to sharing more amazing artists with you in the coming decade.
What fun! My pick is Neil R. Young.
All the best for 2009!

Ohhhh, tricky. Looking back through the archives is like jumping down a rabit hole 🙂 I’m going to go with Erin Morrison.
Hello, What do you think of the Carte Blanche v2 book….I have heard from a few of the artists in it that they are neither excited nor not about it…kinda okay…blah…But hey I have never seen it yet, and was wondering if it would be a good purchase to have on a Canadian painting survey.
I have always been a great fan of Terry Miura
For me, I enjoy the book because it strikes the right balance between images and text (which means about 90% image, 10% text) and I found it gave a good balance between presenting artists I was already familiar with and ones whose work I hadn’t seen before.
As someone who can never get enough art to look at, I would recommend the book (which is why I chose it for the contest), but I would love to hear from some of the included artists regarding their experiences with it.
Happy New Year Eric! I’ve been reading your blog since April 08 when I discovered that you had featured me. That was a great surprise. This contest is a great excuse to go through and check out all the wonderful artists again. It was very hard but I’ve picked my top ten. 5 of my faves are local, we have some very talented artists in Toronto! Thanks.

My absolute favourite is AUDREY KAWASAKI. Some other favourites in order would be: Stanka Kordic, Kris Knight, Shauna Born, Eileen MacArthur, Jennifer Walton, and Mike Bayne.
Alex Roulette and Mary Jane Ansell are two of my favourites. Happy new year bud!
For purely personal resonance…
Aron Wiesenfeld,
an early post of yours apparently that I only recently discovered.
But if a second vote were allowed,
Amy Bennett.
Very hard to limit the choice out of such a vast field of so many talented people.
Maybe next year everyone could vote for their top 5 or something. Anyway thanks for the blog!
Eric,
Great blog, I have only recently discovered your blog. This is a difficult task because there here are so many to like for various similar and dissimilar reasons. It is impossible to choose a favorite. I could probably choose at least one from any post of ten. :0) Surely you won’t hold me to choosing an absolute favorite. How can so many not be favorites.
[…] Today is the last day to cast a vote for your favourite artist from the archives and be entered into the first ever PaintBlog giveaway. […]

there have been so many great painters featured here its almost discouraging. today i popped on and saw one of your recent posts and was very inspired to get down into the studio. Karl Dempwolf is my pick but there are countless others
Peter Brooke’s misty landscapes are absolutely stunning. Too bad they are so far out of my price range…
I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
